This is the beginning of a three part posting series in which I hope to discuss the process of setting our eyes on Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing like Jesus did.
1st Dimension: Going to Jesus; looking at Him, adoring Him, worshiping Him, talking to Him…
2nd Dimension: Becoming like Jesus; being changed in His presence, submitting to His will, being led by the Holy Spirit, growing in fruit, walking with Him.
3rd Dimension: Doing like Jesus; Out of adoration for Jesus and change of the heart there is an overflow of Jesus to the world.
1st Dimension: Going to Jesus
In Isaiah 6, there is a picture of worship going on around the throne room of God, wherein the hosts of Heaven are shouting back and forth “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of Hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.” When I get a picture of heaven worshiping the living God, I feel compelled to join them.
A friend of mine, Matthew Murphy says this: “When I worship Jesus I feel like I am plugged into the Holy Spirit and receive His grace and Love.”
There is power in joining the worship of Heaven that is already happening, and as Matthew alluded to, it ministers to us.
In response to seeing God we often talk with God, some people call it prayer. The thing is that God wants us to be in His presence, He wants us to talk with Him.
Real Live Thoughts From People
I gained some insights from some friends this week on speaking with God and the freedom of coming to Him, here is what they said:
“I don’t have to use big words.” – Rachel Rutherford
“You don’t have to get on your hands and knees, He’s your friend.” – Jonathan Rutherford
“When you’re passionate about what you pray about God tends to answer it.” – Darnell Kelly
When I spoke with these friends, I had a sense that they genuinely discovered and experienced this in their time with God.
When you spend time with God, enjoying God, looking at Jesus, talking to Jesus… you grow in freedom.
We were made to see Jesus, enjoy Jesus, want Jesus, worship Jesus.
Do not cramp your time looking at Jesus, because it is then that your heart is filled with adoration for Him and you have freedom to enjoy His presence.
In the coming weeks we will discuss the transforming power of how seeing, worshiping and speaking to Jesus transforms US and mobilizes us to be His hands and feet to the world.
For the joysetbeforeme,
(please feel free to comment as I want this to be a discussion).
